A study terminal, not a shortcut

Read the case.
Brief it. Keep the reasoning.

Scriba is a split-screen notebook for law students. Highlight a passage on the left; it lands in your FIRAC brief on the right — anchored back to the source, forever. Your reasoning stays yours.

The problem

Canned briefs teach you to recognize someone else's reasoning — not build your own. Scriba flips it: the reading stays hard, the brief stays yours, and every rule you write is anchored to the exact sentence you pulled it from. When exams come, you don't cram someone else's outline. You read your own.

How Scriba works

Five moves. One notebook.

The full walkthrough
01
Bring the case in

Paste, drop a PDF, or search by citation.

02
Highlight as you read

Tag F, I, R, A, or H — the passage lands in your brief.

03
Your FIRAC writes itself

Edit in your own voice. The anchors stay put.

04
Drill it, don't reread it

Flashcards built from your own briefs — citing only cases your source names.

05
Export with a paper trail

Word, PDF, Markdown, Anki — with an AI-disclosure appendix.

What's inside

Everything you'd otherwise juggle — collapsed onto one desk.

Every citation checked, or flagged.

Case names are checked against your own material or the public court record. Anything that doesn't resolve is flagged as unverified.

AI disclosure
Every export ships with a disclosure.

Hand your professor a Word doc that lists exactly which passages the AI touched.

Honor code
Your notes stay yours.

We don't train models on them. We don't share them. You can export or delete at any time.

Built for the 1L week

Every day of the week has a shape.

Scriba isn't a to-do app pretending to know law. It's the notebook you already reach for — with the reading, briefing, and review that a 1L week actually demands, already stitched together.

Mon
Read

Two casebook chapters. Highlight as you go — F/I/R/A/H tags land in the brief.

Tue
Brief

Finish yesterday's FIRAC. Draft today's before class.

Wed
Class

Pull the brief up in a split. Add margin notes without losing your outline.

Thu
Review

Ten spaced-repetition cards. The ones you failed yesterday come back.

Fri
Outline

Yesterday's cases slot into the topical outline. Anchors survive intact.

Sat
Practice

Timed issue-spotting on last week's material. Grade against your own brief.

Sun
Reset

Sync next week's reading list. Skim what's coming. Close the laptop.

Honest AI

AI that does jobs, not conversations.

Most AI tools sell you an open chat box. Scriba doesn't have one. Its AI does specific jobs — extracts your syllabus into a week-by-week plan, asks you guided briefing questions, builds flashcards from your own briefs, grades practice against a rubric — then gets out of the way. It never writes your work, because there is no surface where it could.

Read the full AI disclosure
  • Flashcards cite only your own material.

A generated card can name a case only if your source names it. Cards that reach for anything else are discarded before you see them.

  • No open-ended chat. By design.

Each AI feature does one narrow job — extract a syllabus, ask briefing questions, quiz, grade practice against a rubric. There is no blank prompt, so there is nothing to talk into writing your work.

  • Every citation is checked, or flagged.

Cite-check verifies each case named in your brief against the public court record. Verified cites link to the opinion; anything that doesn't resolve is flagged as unverified.

  • It logs every touch.

Every AI-assisted passage is tracked and exported in a disclosure appendix you can hand to your professor.

FAQ

Questions worth answering.

How is this different from Quimbee?+

Quimbee sells you their canned briefs. Scriba gives you the tools to write your own — anchored back to the exact language you highlighted. You retain what you actually read.

Why not just use ChatGPT?+

ChatGPT is an open chat — it hallucinates case names, has no memory of your syllabus, and will happily write the assignment for you. Scriba's AI doesn't chat. It does specific jobs: turns your syllabus into a plan, quizzes you on what you read, builds flashcards from your own briefs. Every case it names is checked against your material or the public court record, and it exports an AI-disclosure report.

Will my professor know I used AI?+

Only if you tell them — or hand them the disclosure report Scriba exports with every brief. AI-assisted passages are visually distinguished in the editor and clearly listed in the export.

What's the honor-code stance?+

Scriba won't draft essays, memos, or graded assignments. It's a study tool: read, brief, outline, self-quiz. Full policy on the honor-code page.

Is my data private?+

Yes. Your notes, briefs, and syllabi are yours. We don't train models on them and we don't share them. Full details on the privacy page.

Can I cancel during the trial?+

Yes — cancel any time in the first 7 days from Settings → Billing and you won't be charged. After the trial, charges are non-refundable (see refund policy).

Stop retyping cases into Google Docs.

One workspace. One hotkey. One brief structure that matches how your professors actually grade.
